Continuing with more 24h posts, this time we are flying all the way to Vienna, Austria. I can honestly say it is one of my favourite cities I have visited. I have a background with music, and all the music richness and art in the city is insane. Here are my must haves if you have a short amount of time to visit Vienna.
This library looks straight out of a movie, it is absolutely stunning. The entrance is a bit tricky as it is through the back of the building, the front is an actual functioning library, so you’ll save yourself some embarrassment going in and then being told you are completely wrong. Basically what happened to me.
It is the largest library in Austria, with more than 12 million items, if you like history, books and culture, I feel like you will adore this place as much as I did.
St. Stephen’s Cathedral
It is located in Stephansplatz and it is an absolute Romanesque and Gothic beauty built back in the 1147. You can go up to the top and enjoy the birds view of Vienna. It is extremely pretty and, although being super windy the day I went, it is really worth it.
Schönbrunn is located a little bit further away from the centre of the city but it is completely worth it. It is accessible by metro so it is not a huge haste getting to it. The palace was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers back in the 15th century. It is a Rococo-styled building and although it is not favourite architecture style, the place is absolutely stunning.
Vienna is gorgeous, no matter where you look, you will probably encounter a nice building, a museum or a nice restaurant. I always feel like getting lost in a city is the best way to really get to know it, but with Vienna, I truly mean it.
Just by walking around, you are going to find little churches, great streets with stunning architecture and little artisan shops.
